Green. Eva Green.

[[F L I C K S]] * First came news that actor Daniel Craig (Road to Perdition, Layer Cake) would be replacing Pierce Brosnan in the forthcoming James Bond film Casino Royale (not to be confused with the 1967 David Niven Bond spoof of the same name). Then word spread that Danish thespian Mads Mikkelsen (King Arthur) would assume the role of Agent 007’s nemesis in Royale. Finally, now comes what might be the most-awaited bulletin of all: that striking, 25-year-old French-Swedish actress Eva Green (The Dreamers, Kingdom of Heaven) has been cast as the latest “Bond girl,” Vesper Lynd--a femme fatale role filled in the original Royale by Ursula Andress. “After an extensive search we have found the perfect actress. ... She brings to the complex role of Vesper an exciting combination of enigmatic and seductive beauty,” producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said in a statement. And really, what more could a jet-setting, gadget-bearing, automatic-packing, well-attired British super-spy for the 21st century want?

Personally, though, I still miss Carole Bouquet (For Your Eyes Only), Izabella Scorupco (GoldenEye), and of course the lovely Halle Berry (Die Another Day).
