Cause for Hiding Under the Bed

[[B O O K S]] * Here’s exactly the sort of beginning to a review that makes all authors dread the prospect of having their books critiqued in the first place. It comes from Neel Mukherjee’s assessment in the London Times of Irvine Welsh’s new novel, The Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs.
Let’s call a spade a spade--Irvine Welsh’s sixth novel is so awful that, to paraphrase James Wood, it invents its own category of awfulness.
Ouch!
