Voters Say Palin Unqualified

This comes from a new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll:

Forty-nine percent say that [Republican’t Sarah] Palin is unqualified to be president if the need arises, compared with 40 percent who say she's qualified.

By contrast, 64 percent believe [Democrat Joe] Biden is qualified to be president, versus just 21 percent who disagree.

What part of these survey results is a consequence of the McCain campaign’s efforts to keep Palin in the closet, to hide her away from the prying questions of reporters, and what part is the result of voters simply having learned more about the Alaska governor over the last few weeks, and deciding that she’s not fit to take over the country, should 72-year-old John McCain die in the White House? There’s no telling yet. The full poll findings are to be released tonight.
